Training & Development

Joining Sherwin-Williams means you will become enriched with the importance of our company philosophy and belief of ongoing training and development. Training and development are essential to our performance and future growth.
As a new member of the Internal Audit team, you will receive six weeks of on-the-job training. Your training will take place both in our headquarters in Cleveland, Ohio, as well as in the field with two separate experienced auditors. After you have been in your zone for one month, an advanced or senior level auditor will conduct with you a peer audit, where they will assist you by teaching advanced auditing concepts.
On-the-job training includes learning how to use our paperless auditing software that is setup on your company issued laptop. The training program structure allows you to learn every aspect of store operations and retail level financial reporting. You will develop the knowledge to audit the following areas:
- Financial Statements
- Cash and Banking
- Accounts Receivable
- Inventory
- Accounts Payable
- Purchasing and Receiving
- Store Safety/Security
- Payroll
- Fixed Assets
- Shipping
Training will continue as you progress in the job. You will learn how to audit Floorcovering Centers, Spray Equipment Repair Facilities, Product Finishes Facilities, and Automotive Branches. Also, you will complete another peer audit, which gives you the opportunity to work for a week with another similarly tenured auditor.
After you have proven your proficiency as an Internal Auditor, your second year offers other opportunities. Interested in training new auditors? Want to assist with a Corporate Audit? We will take great strides to match your interests to the appropriate experiences. However, as an Internal Auditor you are not limited to just opportunities in Internal Audit. Internal Audit is the gateway to future opportunities within the entire organization.
